How to Choose a Photo Booth for Your Seattle Event

Most photo booth listings sound the same. Here is what actually matters when you are picking one for a Seattle wedding, corporate event, or birthday.

The short version: for a 120-guest wedding, plan on 4 hours of coverage, an open-air booth, a staffed attendant, and a 6 by 8 foot footprint near the bar. Budget 1,200 to 2,000 dollars in the Seattle area for a quality setup. Everything else is a detail you can make smart calls on.

1. Match the Booth to the Event

Different events need different setups. The booth you put at a Capitol Hill cocktail launch is not the booth you want for a Bainbridge barn wedding.

  • Weddings. Open-air booth, custom print template with the couple's names and date, classic prop box. Skip the LED-lit shells.
  • Corporate events. Branded backdrop, logo on every print, digital sharing first so prints are a bonus. Lead capture is the real win here.
  • Birthdays and social parties. GIF and Boomerang stations, full prop kit, faster turnover. Less template fuss, more energy.

2. Open-Air vs. Enclosed

Open-air booths are what we run at almost every event. They fit groups of 8 to 10 guests, work with any backdrop, and photograph well under standard venue lighting.

Enclosed booths feel nostalgic. They cap at 4 guests, take up more floor space, and need their own power and ventilation. Pick enclosed only if the room calls for it.

3. Print Quality Is Not Negotiable

The prints are what guests take home, so they need to last. Ask three questions:

  • Is the printer dye-sublimation, not inkjet?
  • How long is the print cycle? Under 15 seconds is the bar.
  • Are prints water-resistant?

Dye-sub prints last decades and survive a drink spill. Inkjet smudges and fades. There is no reason to pay for a booth that prints on an inkjet.

4. Digital Sharing Should Be Standard

Modern booths send photos to your phone the moment you tap a screen. Confirm the booth includes:

  • Text and email delivery
  • A QR code gallery for the full event
  • Animated GIFs and Boomerangs

If a vendor charges extra for digital sharing, you are paying 2018 prices.

5. Staffed, Not Drop-Off

A staffed attendant runs the booth, manages the prop table, and reprints when guests want extras. We have never seen a self-service setup go well at a 100-plus guest event. The line gets long, props go missing, and someone ends up troubleshooting the printer instead of dancing.

Make sure an attendant is included, not an upsell.

6. What the Package Should Cover

A fair Seattle quote at 1,200 to 2,000 dollars for 4 hours should include:

  • Unlimited sessions during the event window
  • Unlimited prints
  • A custom print template designed to your event
  • An online gallery with downloadable photos
  • One trained attendant on site

If any of those are listed as add-ons, the base price is misleading.

A Footprint Note for Seattle Venues

For weddings in the Seattle area, plan a 6 by 8 foot footprint near the bar or dance floor. Olympic Sculpture Park, Block 41, and MOHAI all have natural spots for an open-air setup. Talk to your planner before you sign anything.
